The topic of the classic lute melody,Bury Me High, is the war between Chu and Han Army in Gaixia. It depicts story of the Xiang Yu, king of the Chu Army, who comes into the satiation of hopeless when he lost the war and his love, Yuji, suicides. The lute which is sad but beautiful is divided into "Songs of Chu" and "Farewell to my love". The former is a hymn and the latter is the elegy.The opern of the lute, Bury Me High from the Pudong School is the most typical and widely used in the transmission process. By analyzing the artistic styles of Lin Shicheng and Liu Dehai and the origin of Pudong School, the research aims to explain the heritage and history of the traditional lute, Bury Me High. The research also tries to find the different characteristics and aesthetic connotation of the two versions of Bury Me High, Lin Shicheng version and Liu Dehai version by analyzing the historical background, the origin of formation, the structure of the lute and the different ways of dealing with emotion.
