With the rapid development of teaching Chinese as a second language, classroom teaching plays an important role in the teaching process. As a effective way to access the classroom, classroom observation could identify problems and come up with effective ways of teaching evaluation. Throughout recent years, most classroom observation are qualitative observation-based, it is subjectivity; and the quantitative science classroom observation is less, especially in the use of quantitative classroom of teaching Chinese as a second language. Therefore, the author choses a quantitative classroom observation as a starting point, to do the quantitative empirical studies classroom observation in teaching Chinese as a second language.First, the author comes to summarize and introduce relevant classroom observation tool, in which has a detailed description about the COLT scale. COLT namely communicative orientation of language teaching, is a kind of communicative classroom-based study classroom observation tool, and the author described the way to use the table in the practice.Secondly, according to the theory of COLT scale, combined with the actual situation of Chinese teaching, the author designed to improve some observers projects in the existing COLT scale. The scale is divided into two parts, the first part of the design is mainly used to observe the situation in the classroom teaching activities,which focus on inspection activities in the form, that is, group activities and significance related to teaching; the control of students on the topic and supplementary type of material.The second part of the design is Table II, mainly on the interaction communicative between teachers and students in the classroom, compared with the study of conventional teacher-centered scale, the author added the project of the observation about students, in order to record the classroom, and analyze classroom better and more completely.Next, in order to carry out the scale of the demonstration better, the author chose two Donggan classes of the Northwest Normal University, and compared the noviceteacher and veteran teacher of the two classes. The author made a record and analysis of classroom observation about these two parallel horizontal classes. Meanwhile, in order to demonstrate the science and objectivity of this scale better, the author observed the two classes for second time one month later, and analyzed the two times observations respectively. In practice, the author analyzed and discussed observation data of each class, and then compared the veteran teachers and novice teachers of the two classes separately. At last, according to the actual situation, it is to come up with recommendations.Finally, through the practice of the improved COLT scale analysis, demonstrated the feasibility, applicability and effectiveness of this improved scale in classroom of teaching Chinese as a second language. And then, it is to discover the existing problems of the entire class, such as the language of teachers, the arrangement of teaching content. Also it could help us to improve the classroom and teaching quality,and help us evaluate teaching in practice. Through the analysis about the novice teacher's data and corpus, to find problems of novice teachers and come up with recommendations, which can effectively help the teachers to rethink their teaching and make improvements.
