| The purpose of this thesis, on one hand, is to clarify and summarize the background, completion time, version, annotation style, and characteristic of topic selection of Interpretation of the Songs of Chid; on the other hand, is to probe into Wang Kaiyun’s Chu thought by researching the text content so as to highlight the notable features of Wang Kaiyun’s research on The Song of Chu and the value and influence of it in the history of Chu Ci.Wang Kaiyun’s interpretation of The Song of Chu has its own characteristics. In the content, the Interpretation of The Song of Chu is a political interpretation. Wang Kaiyun interprets The Songs of Chu from the perspective of current affairs,focusing on three important political affairs, namely Qu Yuan’s expectation of flourishing the State of Chu, measure of recommending talents and the accusation of doing harm to the country. It also re-constructs the subjective political ecological system. Behind the political interpretation of the Interpretation of The Song of Chu is Wang Kaiyun’s dominant ideology and political sustenance. In the writing style, the Interpretation of the Songs of Chu advocates innovation, which causes a prevalence of suspecting the past. The reason of the formation of the writing characteristics is related to many aspects. First of all, it is closely related to Wang Kaiyun’s Huxiang complex; secondly, it is the product of the learning style featuring reality and application in Hunan and the historical situation; thirdly, Wai Kaiyun focus on seeking sublime words with deep meaning by the identity of modern writer; fourthly, in terms of Wang Kaiyun’s life background and experience, he does not have a strong family background to be his knowledge instructor. Wang Kaiyun was born from a poor family and grew up in the street. Therefore, in order to outstand his talents and achieve more attention, he is likely to make innovation deliberately; fifthly, Wang Kaiyun’s historical thought has a deep influence on his interpretation. Wang Kaiyun combines the historical thought with the application. The influence of the interpreting characteristic of The Interpretation of the Songs of Chu has reflected in two aspects. For the interpreting style, Wang Kaiyun exerted a deep influence on Liao Ping’research on the Songs of Chu; for the contents, some modern Chu Ci scholars inherit Wang Kaiyun’s Chu Ci thought, and analyze the Songs of Chu from the perspective of politics, military, and geography. Wang Kaiyun’s Chu Ci thought has internal unity with his literary thought. In terms of writing current politics, his poem and article has much the same to his Interpretation of the Songs of Chu. The scholars have different evaluation on Wang kaiyun’s study of the Song of Chu, as well as himself and his writing. Some praise, while others criticize, which all highlight the value of Wang Kaiyun and his Interpretation of the Songs of Chu. |
