Using The Intertextuality Theory To Study Film Adaptation Of Literature

As an important form of film, film adaptation of a literature followed by the birth of film. A lot of classic films in the world are adapted from literature works.However, successful movie adaptations inevitably make the film adaptation art facing an embarrassing situation: when people watching a movie adaptation, they will always,intentionally or unintentionally,compare it with the original literature,and the result is surprisingly consistent- movie adaptation is not as good as the original literature work,and the movie adaptation even devastated and desecrated the original literary work.The film "adaptation" of literature has long been ingrained in people's mind. The creative and artistic value of literature is unique, but the film adaptation is an imitation of the literature, even if very outstanding, it is difficult to compete with the original literature. Obviously, this elitist type of critical discourse completely obscured the film adaptation as an independent art, which should have unique value and aesthetic character. This critical discourse deviated from the era of film adaptation practice, showing the lag and one-sided. In addition, the traditional film adaptation research is mostly on the film adaptation practice and summary. The film adaptation research is short of the necessary theoretical support, so that it just stay at the surface and is difficult to go in-depth.We should introduce the theory of intertextuality, if we want to break the current situation of research the film adaptation of literary work and more rationally and fairly research film adapation. On one hand, film adaptation research need intertextuality theory as theoretical support to break the dilemma, on the other hand,film adaptation is the intertextuality inevitable research areas. In the context of intertextuality, literature has lost endogenous creativity and authority, and the film adaptation of literature has become an important "creative treason" means of the creation which has independent status and unique value adaptation should be given adequate attention. Intertextuality, not only help us to understand and guide the film adaptation of activity from the macro, but also as a method of micro-analysis which applied to a specific film adaptation practice. In the horizon of intertextuality, the texts,the subjects, the cultural,social and historical context which associated with film adaptation of literature have been rationally interpreted.This article aims to use intertextuality as new theoretical perspectives to explore film adaptation.The introduction part study the article reason, current research,methods and meaning. In addition to the introduction, the article is divided into threeparts.The first part research the development and value of Intertextuality. From theory of intertextuality and the research Status film adaptation to explore necessity and creative value which use intertextuality to study film adaptation.The second part of the article based on the theory of intertextuality different development paths, through the analysis of a specific film adaptation activities to explore in the film adaptation of the concepts and techniques adapted from those reflected intertextuality elements.The third part is to explore positive in using intertextuality on the film adaptation activities, obtained by analyzing the film adaptation under the guidance of intertextuality can expand the meaning and form of literary works,besides adapter and critics have a certain enlightenment.Finally, at the conclusion of the article, by reflection of the theory of intertextuality modernist features, reflective theory of intertextuality in directing the film adaptation activities in the process of emerging issues, and called for adapter to avoid in the film adaptation process expansion characteristics of postmodernism, and then regulate their own adaptation of behavior in order to achieve positive and healthy development of the film and literary works, which create a more positive, healthy, rich intellectual and cultural quality video to the correct guidance, enhance the broad masses audience acceptance.
