As one of the outstanding composers in teh late romantic period,Gustav Mahler has q uite unique thinking and profound skills in using the resources, conducting the orches tration, and distributing the whole and the parts. This paper is studying in a deep way t he orchestration skill used in the Chapter I, II in the Fifth Symphony plus other related topics covered in 4 parts with analysis by multiple musical theories.Part 1, the paper briefly introduced Mahler's life and talked about his art experience a nd achievements in different ages;Part 2, the background and contents of his creation was told centered with the Fifth Sy mphony;Part 3, the paper did analysis and study on the orchestration of the melodies and the co nversion, connection and conversation of the texture of the orchestral music based on the skills in the Fifth Symphony;Part 4, we summerized teh research findings on the orchestration and provided sugges tions on its features' impact on the modern music creation.
