Emotional information processing plays a gigantic role in social evolution.Emoticon as a non-verbal cue is an important component of remote communication.This paper aims at exploring how emoticons affect statements texts on emotional information.Adopting experimental investigation,this research selects students in Liaoning Normal University in Dalian City and pupils at Grade One in elementary school in Dalian City,surveying 34 people respectively on gender parity.Experiment One applies 3×2 two-factor mixed design,observing how two groups of subjects response to 120 emotional information only statements texts through the buttons.Experiment Two applies 3×2×2 three-factor mixed design,observing how two groups of subjects response to 120 emotional information statements texts with positive and negative emoticons through the buttons.This paper explores differences between children and adults' information understanding and emoticon's influence on remote communication statements texts in comparison of two groups.Results: Experiment One,the main effect of statements texts of emotions is prominent.F2,132= 452.501,p < 0.01,leaning to ?2 = 0.873;the main effect of childhood ages and adult age groups is not prominent.F1,66= 2.138,p > 0.01,leaning to ?2 = 0.031;the interaction effect of language emotions and age is prominent.F2,132= 3.734,p < 0.05,leaning to ?2 = 0.054 Experiment Two,the main effect of statements texts emotions is prominent.F2,132= 247.605,p < 0.01;the main effect of emoticons is prominent.F1,66= 247.605,p < 0.01;the main effect of categories is not prominent.F1,66= 2.192,p > 0.05;the interaction effect of emoticons and categories is prominent.F1,66= 9.010,p < 0.01;the marginal interaction effects among statements texts emotions,emoticons and categories are prominent F2,132= 2.941,p = 0.056?Conclusions:?1?when evaluating the emotional statements,there is an interaction between emotional statement types and age groups.Adult groups tested on positive statements are more active than the children groups.?2?For the children group,positive statements whether they are positive emoticons or negative emoticons will cripple understanding on emotional statements texts.?3?For the adults group,when emotional statement types are opposite to the emoticons types,the understanding of emotional statement types only will be reduced.?4?Emoticons only affect children's positive emotional statements,however,emoticons have an influence on adults' positive statements,neutral statements and negative statements.Emoticons can also offset the emotional strength of opposite emotional statement types.
