Construction scheme is an appointed implementation plan according to a construction project. With the enhancement of China's economy and high integration of international market, more and more China companies step into international market and join in the construction of international engineering projects. Hence, when referring to the engineering construction of transnational projects, At present, however, there are many translation researches on application translation fields, such as business, correspondence, law, contract, tourism and so on, for engineering project translation, especially construction scheme, the researches are so limited. Though some scholars have done some work in this field and made some achievements, the researches are still not enough and deep, also, there are even machine translation, mistranslation as well as wrong translation. Moreover, engineering translation, especially in some important fields, such as electric, machinery, civil engineering and traffic & transportation, the requirement for translating construction scheme of huge projects is more and more urgent.The Skopos theory, dating from 1970s, in contrast to early translation theories, studies translation functionally and socio-culturally, holds that translation is a purposeful behavior and applies the principles and strategies when doing translation. The chief representatives are Katharine Reiss, Hans Vermeer, Justa Holz Marrttari and Christiane Nord. In reference to Human Action Theory, the Skopos theory regards translation as a kind of complex human action. Since "any action has an aim, a purpose (Nord,2001:12)", every translation has its specific purpose. In translation, a special type of human action, source texts and target texts are received by different readers, and also sometimes are supposed to different functions in two distinct cultures. It is a kind of translation theory which is suitable for the practical style translation. Hence, the translation practice tries to take three rules of the Skopos theory as principle, from a view of the professional features of engineering translation and C-E translation of long & difficult sentences, discussing the translation skills and strategies on construction scheme of thermal control major, in order to offer some references to translators in relative fields.This paper is a C-E translation report and the translation text excerpts from Construction Scheme of Thermal Control Major. The Skopos theory plays a theoretical guidance role in this translation report. The author divided the paper into five parts. Introduction is the first part, it describes the background of the construction scheme documents and the application of the Skopos theory to the applicable documents translation. The second part describes the tasks, including the background of the task, reasons for choosing the text, the text content and the features of the text. The third part introduces the process, consisting of the preparation before translation, translation tools and references, the duration of the task and the quality control of the task. The fourth part depicts the relevant content of the translation theory, constituted of the introduction of the emergence and the development of the Skopos theory, its main representatives and the content of the three principles of the Skopos theory. The fifth part is cases analysis, which explains the translation process under the guidance of the Skopos theory including specialized words, abbreviations, formal words, phrases, passive voice and long sentence translation. And finally the author summarizes the translation experience, limitations and suggestions of the text under the guidance of the Skopos theory.
