A Chinese-English Translation Report On Construction Scheme Of Pile Foundation Engineering For Pakistan Wind Power Project

In recent years,China has held many transnational engineering projects in foreign countries,which makes the translation for engineering become increasingly important.Pile Foundation Engineering for Pakistan Wind Power Project is one of engineering projects that China holds in Pakistan.It has many written documents to be translated including Construction Scheme of Pile Foundation Engineering for Pakistan Wind Power Project(CSPFEPWPP).This paper takes CSPFEPWPP as a case study in order to study and analyze the approaches to improving the translation quality of C-E engineering technical texts.This paper mainly analyzes two C-E translation difficulties--terminology and complex sentence—in the translation of CSPFEPWPP.It is divided into four parts,including the description of the project,CSPFEPWPP and translation requirements;introduction of the whole translation process;description and analysis of translation difficulties and solutions and the evaluation of the translation project.By analyzing language differences between Chinese and English terminologies and complex sentences,the author clarifies the specific difficulties encountered in the translation of terminologies and complex sentences and the causes of causing difficulties.Based on this analysis,the author summarizes several C-E engineering technical text translation strategies and techniques guided by communicative translation theory as follows: for terminology translation,literal translation,free translation and omission translation strategies and techniques can be used to make the target text easily understood;for complex sentence translation,syntactic linearity,division and recasting translation techniques can be adopted to make the sentences more accepted in the target text.In the process of analyzing and reflecting on this translation practice,the author summarizes the above translation strategies and techniques,and she hopes that these translation strategies and techniques can provide references for those who will translate C-E engineering technical texts in future.
