Doris Lessing, a modern British female writer with world prestige, has attracted critics? attention since she has won the Nobel Prize in literature in 2007. Her works were instantly translated into many countries of the world. China began to introduce and translate many of her works after the Nobel Prize. Actually, Doris Lessing has aroused attention of foreign researchers, especially those in Europe and America since her first novel The Grass is Singing has been published. At present, researches about her works in Europe and America have produced a large number of findings. By contrast, study on her works in the China?s mainland still lags behind it in Europe and America. The introduction and translation of her works are two important reasons that account for such situation. Reading the related literature, the author finds that most domestic researches mainly focus on the original works from the perspective of literature, which mostly are conducted by scholars who study English and American literature. A very small number of articles are written by researchers from the perspective of translation studies. The translation and introduction of a foreign writer?s works are very important to target-language readers, which are also preconditions to study for researchers who have no ability to understand source language.Since the 1980 s, “Cultural turn” provides a new perspective for the translation studies. André Alphons Lefevere and Susan Bassnett make great contribution to translation studies of the West, which has made a significant shift. The “Cultural turn” has made the translation studies change from the language level to culture level. The introduction and translation of Doris Lessing?s works mostly reflect the literary system?s manipulation in the social and cultural background, which clearly shows ideological and poetic change of China?s mainland. In the view of translation studies, this paper from three important factors: ideology, poetics and patronage based on the Manipulation Theory through combing the introduction and translation of Doris Lessing?s works in China?s mainland analyzes the influence of these three factors and then explores that influence and acceptance of Doris Lessing?s works in the China?s mainland are closely related to change of ideology, poetics and patronage to a great extent. By specific analysis, the author will illustrate reasons. The author hopes that this paper will have practical significance to the translation and introduction of foreign literary works, which will improve the translation and introduction of foreign literary works and domestic cultural development.
