Research Of Practicability Of Campus Sign Design In China And America

Sign design of the university is more and more important. It directly impacts cultural impression of a university. This research focuses on some elements of sign design. It includes some basic elements, such as space, color, pattern, character, material. I started from these reasons, and I choose China Academy of art and Oregon State University as my cases. Comparing of differences is in order to find different issues in signage systems. Meanwhile I analyze the effects for practicability. At last, I raise some solutions to solve these problems. I hope sign design of campus will be more practical and awesome.This paper will study from the foundation of design, such as graphic composition, space composition and color composition. I also collect some resources from these two universities, and research how they contribute these differences in different cultural backgrounds, histories and religions. I hope these results from my study can improve sign design of campus in the future.
