In the age of globalization, as a new expression of newly developing literature form, game culture has been attracting more and more attention from scholars as well as the public. The booming international market has promoted an increase of multi-language versions of games, especially when European and American markets have become a hotly contested spot of China's game developers, which brings large demands of localization and higher quality of translation. More and more Chinese game companies go abroad to seek opportunities and further development including Snail Game Company. This company is trying to bring the newly developed game Age of Wushu to overseas market and fully develop overseas business. Thus, the English translation of China's online games is becoming more and more important. As one of the important sections of localization, game translation determines to a great extent the quality of the product. The translation of games has high practicability and a variety of audience. However, there are few researches on the translation of games among domestic academic circles and the translation works of games are even fewer. Under such a background, through the analysis of source text, this translation report does some researches and discussions on the basis of skopos theory proposed by German functional school. This translation report is based on the English translation of game Age of Wushu, which firstly introduces the background information of this project, relevant knowledge, translation process and others. And then through instance analyses, the translator focuses on the strategies employed in the process of translation, i.e., strategies of literal translation, free translation, substitution and omission and some difficulties encountered in the translation and solutions. The translator attempts to provide some new ideas for further studies on game translation and enriching the research of game localization. This report aims at providing some useful suggestions for the study of the translation of game text, and hopes to attract more and more scholars to do further researches in the translation of such texts, in order that Chinese games could be translated and introduced to the whole world more accurately and effectively.
