Video games,in recent years,have rapidly developed into the most popular form of entertainment in the world,and the game industry has never been more prosperous.China,as a huge market,has also become a paradise for overseas game developers,and how to localize the video games becomes crucial to them.However,there have been few specific domestic studies on translation in video game localization in the past decade.Therefore,the source text selected by this translation practice is Localization of Translation Strategies in Video Games,aiming to explore the localization of translation approaches used in different genres of video games.This study is based on the three basic principles(Skopos rule,coherence rule,and fidelity rule)of Skopos theory,starting from the needs of gamers and the factors that game translators should take into consideration.It mainly focuses on the two levels of words localisation and cultural differences in the source text,using the translation methods such as free translation,literal translation with notes,and no translation with notes and the translation practice report is formed according to the main problems encountered in the translation process.The purpose of this study is to offer translation suggestions for the localization of video games,to provide references for game players and game localizationists,to provide references for game developers to meet the challenges of game localization,and to provide an interesting but barely explored corpus for domestic translation studies.
