The thesis focuses on the idiom entries included in the volume ten of the Grand Chinese Dictionary,which is based on the “Chen”,“Shi”,“Bei” and “Jian” four items of idiom as the research object.According to the editing principle and compilation style of the Grand Chinese Dictionary,it counts and organizes the idiom items related to the above four radicals and makes full use of the existing databases and library bibliographical datum inspect and analyze them one by one.After one by one conformation,I find that the four parts of the volume ten include approximately 500 idiom entries,some entries receive reasonable interpretations,but there are small defects,while a significant number of idioms appear unreasonable in the respects of documentary evidence,definition and term.These problems mainly display in the following aspects: first,it is the problem of documentary evidence,including quotations lagging,single evidence,reverse order,wrong source standard and other technical errors;next,there are common errors on term explanation,including inaccurate paraphrase,sense absence and evidence discrepancy;finally,there are punctuation,style,entry omitting and other problems.In this paper,the introduction part mainly explains the cause of the selection of the subject,describes the present research on idiom entry,research methods and other problems.The body part includes the first,second and third chapters.The first chapter mainly elaborates the problems of four features of idiom entries in volume ten of the Grand Chinese Dictionary,and puts forward some suggestions in view of these questions;the second chapter mainly analyzes the problems of term explanations and proposes amending opinions from the aspects of inaccurate paraphrase,sense absence and evidence discrepancy and so on;the third chapter mainly explores the crux from punctuation,style term and other issues,and puts forward corresponding revision suggestions.The conclusion part summarizes the analytic and exploring opinions of the included idioms entries in the Grand Chinese Dictionary,points out the problems in the research process and indicates the remaining deficiencies.
