For the sake of perfecting Modern Chinese Directory, deepen the Chinese adverb research, help to teach and study Chinese as the second language, this dissertation's research object is 141 monosyllabic adverb selected from Modern Chinese Directory, mainly based on methods of metric statistics, antithesis and synonymy clustering, correlation comparison, label of word class, explanation of meaning, separation of entry, etc, are investigated completely. The conclusions are as follows:1) Label of word class of adverbs is restricted by employ frequency, dependence, type of writing, and so on, so there is disparity between label and not-label.2) The basic style of words of explanation of meaning is narrating words; label of'word class +narrating words 'is more frequently used as the pattern of explanation words; the more example words of higher frequency adverbs are common words, sentences and combinations, more example words of lower frequency adverbs are compound words or fixed phrases; more example words of archaism adverbs are fixed phrases.3) Separation of entry of adverbs basically keeps to the principle made by foreword, 'same form and same tone but meaning different, then separates entry. For example, the monosyllabic adverbs that has no affiliation with source substantive, has same pronunciation and form with substantive by coincidence, has same pronunciation and form with substantive by simplify, are separated to entries. But there are different disposition of entry among monosyllabic adverbs that has affiliation with source substantive.
