After Chen Te-hsiu's Ta-hsueh yen-i finished, its writing style was imitated by a series of books, one of those is Filial Piety yen-i.The book which compiled for the purpose of consolidating the rule of Qing Dynasty used Book of Filial Piety as the theoretical basis. It combined the traditional political ideas of filial, the interpretation of Book of Filial Piety and new style of academic works.Substantially, the book's compilation is no different from the same type of works.Of course, there are still two features:it has less thinking of realpolitik;it praises highly of Zhu Zi in academic. The book's theoretical structure includes three programmes and five entries. The programmes are the theoretical premise. In the author's interpretation, filial is the origin of moral, the foundation of ethics, the source of politics. So the fulfillment of filial piety can be extended to all the aspects of self-cultivation and political governance. The entries are the main content of this book.It instructs five different social classes how to act properly. The emperor need to play a major role in this process."Emperor' filial",the most important part of the book, describes the author's main points about politics.According to the author, emperor' filial means the political governance instead of self-cultivation.The author discusses court services, bureaucracy and livelihood issues in detail.Comparatively, financial and tax problems, legal issues, military matters received much less attention. In general, those points are mediocre. The author lacks in-depth observation and reflection of reality. Of course, there are still some views we can learn.
