With the development of globalization and integration of world economy, China is more closely bound up with the rest of the world. As an important form of economic cooperation, international bidding plays a significant role in world trade. It is not only an important communication instrument in international bidding cooperation, but also an indispensable part in bidding activities. However, bidding documents are usually written in English, even in other languages, must also enclose a copy of English version. Thus, the bidding documents translation should be focus on.This report is based on the translation of Professional Subcontracting Bidding Documents of Security-door Contracted by Chengdu Commercial Plaza (Chapter 1-The Instruction of Bidders), which aims to discuss the Chinese to English translation of bidding documents. Generally speaking, bidding documents is a particular text type that contains a combination of technical writings, legal text and business contract. Therefore, it owns distinctive features in stylistic and linguistic level, which also become the difficulties in translation process. Those features include frequent application of nominalizing structure, extensive use of juxtaposition, and widespread employment of compound words. This report stresses on analyzing the difficulties in bidding document translation, and then proposes solutions and some translation skills to cope with those difficulties. In the end, the author of the present report concludes translation principles and experiences of bidding document, and reveals that careful and comprehensive preparation, and coincident features of target text is essential to achieve successful translation in an unfamiliar field.
