Study On The Application Of Super-Light Clay In Sculpture

Compared with other art subjects(such as music,painting),sculpture,as one of an important category of its art subjects,has more superiority in the aspect of material's artistic expression.First of all,applying a variety of malleable materials to create some kind of artistic image is sculpture,which is also known as “carving” and it is a general name of carving,engraving and molding.Therefore,concept of sculpture reveals that the material is closely linked with sculpture.Secondly,the concept scope of sculpture have expanded to become what it is today,which is not in the conventional sense any more.It provides a broad space for the use of different materials which is accompanied by moving with the times in sculpture.Person can deeply realize the uniqueness of sculpture from the diversity of materials.Material itself has no meaning,but it endows material new value after applying materials to make sculptor's inner thoughts and ideas spread out.Material is no longer merely “material” by the time.It is the carrier of sculptor to create their own unique art language,which makes the finishing point.In the field of sculpture,sculpture material has their own personality and beauty at different phrases and stages.Sculpture is not same as before,but become more close to people's lives,blends in popular aesthetic appreciation and breaks through sense of oneness in using conventional sculpture materials,thus material is no longer the supporting role of the sculpture.It is the key for continuous progress of sculpture arts in selecting and using material during creation process.Form and concept are also constantly changing along with aesthetic demand,for more and more people concerned about sculpture art since the 20 th century.That's the reason why it can continually promote sculptors to try to use new materials to make different visual impacts.The species of sculpture materials become more and more abundant with the society development.This thesis mainly introduced a new environment-friendly sculpture material---super light clay through analysis of its main composition,physical properties and application in sculpture field with author's graduation creation and further analyzed development trend of super light clay combined with practice experience in preschoolart education.This is a new attempt,a new artistic expression and a new research direction.
