Based on the audio-converted text of a business talk, this essay is a practice report for the analysis of various problems encountered in the preparation and on-the-spot stage. This essay also involves in the discussion of the characters and skills of business interpreting, the qualities demanded for business interpreter and the training methods of how to be an outstanding business interpreter. During the retrospect of this business interpreting practice, the author focused on the elaboration of the preparation and on-the-spot stage, mainly related to how to familiarize the business background and prepare the special vocabulary. Afterwards the author recalls how she deal with the various problems in the on-the-spot stage, including how to interpret the abstract words, how to adjust the speaking tones, how to tackle the special vocabulary, how to respond to the interpreting of numbers and how to control the interpreting intervals by communicating with the speakers. Then in chapter four the author proceeds to illustrate the characters and skills of business interpreting based on the research of processors in English interpreting field and the comprehension of this particular business interpreting practice. In chapter five the author then expounds on the qualities demanded for an outstanding business interpreter and the training methods related to be a qualified business interpreter. In this essay the author follows the train of thought that reflection comes first to lay the foundation for the follow-up discussion of more general inspiration of business interpreting with reference to the research of predecessors. All of this discussion is used for the guidance of the upcoming business interpreting practice of the author herself and other business interpreting learners and workers.
