A Project Report On Legal Translation Of Regulations On Supervision And Management Of Medical Devices

With the development of globalization, the translation market demands are no more confined to the traditional fields like literature or commerce, and legal translation and scientific translation are taking a larger proportion in the market, which can never be neglected. During normal medical treatment, medical device plays a crucial role to some extent during the operation, which may influence the life safety. In the past 60 years. China has become the third largest medical device market in the world, only following America and Japan. However. China doesn't do a good job in global competition, product quality and innovation. For the aim of cultivating the development of medical device industry in our country, improving the product quality and enhancing international competitiveness, our government has launched many laws, regulations and rules. Based on the abundant policy support, there is no time to delay broadcasting our laws and regulations about medical device around the world.This report will bs based on the latest revised edition of Regulations on Supervision and Management of Medical Devices in February,2014, and be guided by functional translation theory, which introduces and explains the whole translating process comprehensively. Through this report, it has been proved that the relationship between translation theory and translation practice is indivisible and in mutual promotion. During handling and solving difficulties and barrier met in this translation project, the author has applied translation methods including literal translation, amplification, division, combination, and inversion to dealing with the translation barrier of medical device professional words and long sentence. Hopefully, this report can provide some useful suggestions and advice for legal translation of medical device industry in the future, and the author's translation ability can be improved through practice.
