Successive governments in India has been treat the problem of food and clothing for their people as the most important issue since India was founded in 1947.When Indira Gandhi government came to power, the situation was significantly improved by successfully to carrying out the "Green Revolution" throughout the country. This drastic reform has solved the historical problem of food and clothing,as well as,it laid a good foundation for India's agricultural modernization.Investigations of the process of "Green Revolution" not only help us clarify the agricultural development course in India, but also provide an important reference for the current ongoing agricultural modernization in China.Underdeveloped domestic agriculture and successive years of drought urged the Indira Gandhi government to implement "Green Revolution",with foreign technical, financial and personnel assistance.Reforming in the three northern provinces served as a pilot operation, which was later popularized throughout the country after its success. In order to make "Green Revolution" benefit more people in India, government has taken omni-directional measures in agriculture, such as actively introducing and cultivating good varieties, extensively employing fertilizers, strengthening the construction of water conservancy facilities, expanding the coverage of agricultural credit, promoting agriculture associated scientific research and education, implementing agricultural preferential policies and so on.The implementation of these initiatives, not only make Indian people basically achieve self-sufficiency in food, but also have improved Indian agricultural productivity and changed Indian agriculture productive relations.Meanwhile, they have significant influenced on the development of agricultural modernization and accelerated the process of political democratization, social modernization in India. But the popularization of "Green Revolution" has also brought a series of problems such as ecological damage, the wealth gap between the rich and the poor, regional development imbalances etc.Exploring the ways to solve these problems has no doubt become the first issue for the Indian government.Others Experience Can Be Lessons(Chinese Proverb). Our ongoing construction of a new socialist countryside should draw lessons from the beneficial experience in India's "Green Revolution",and our governmentneed take some effective measures basing on the national conditions in agriculture. The measures will help us settle the three agriculture-related issues as soon as possible.such as actively developing modern agriculture, cultivating modern farmers, taking the road of sustainable development and paying attention to efficiency with due consideration to fairness etc.Only by doing so,can our farmers be richer, our agriculture stronger, our villages more beautiful.
