Study Of Dialect Vocabulary And Culture Of Folk Custom In Taigu

Recent decades, the study of Shanxi language has made ample achievements. However, the research of the specific dialect piece or spot is not enough, and most are confined to pure linguistics, that is to say more attention to the dialect pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and other aspects of segmentation and description, but less attention to the dialect culture which is the cause of study of language is due to the lack of humanistic attribute and gradually far from people's real life. This thesis is about Shanxi Taigu dialect, especially folk-custom dialect as research object, this research not only describe and analyze the formation of folk dialect vocabulary from the view of modern structural linguistics, but will also cover the research perspective to combine the study of dialect and local culture, so to explain the dialect meaning and humanistic attribute fully. The dialect and local culture are attached together. The formation of the dialect vocabulary is influenced by regional culture, and it is basically the record of inherits of regional culture and represents the true picture of that society. Dialect vocabulary in the future will disappear or continue to be live in people's spoken language are also influenced by regional culture. However, the dialect research would lack of certain depth if not combine with the regional culture very well; the study of regional culture would look a bit incomplete if it should not joins linguistics.This dissertation is divided into six parts:The first part is introduction, as the foundation of the full text: describing about the Taigu's geographical and historical survey at first, then introducing Taigu dialect's belonging and research background of selected topic, followed by the relationship between dialect and folk custom, the research objects, methods and significances of this paper at last. In view of the fact that the folk-custom phenomenon of production and living customs in the regional culture with the relationship of dialect are very closed, so this paper collects the representative folk dialect words mainly from marriage, funeral, festivals and diet habits for this research.The second part focuses on the analysis of dialect words of marriage in Taigu, not only analyzing its formation and source from the perspective of linguistics and culture, but trying to reveals the people cultural psychology behind the dialect words.The third part focuses on analyzing the dialect words of funeral in Taigu, and also its formation and source from the perspective of linguistics and culture, it also discuss on taboo language which is reflected in the funeral dialect.The forth part focuses on the analyzing of dialect words of festivals in Taigu. because of the close relationship between the Taigu's folk festivals and faith of gods, So not only we exploring the formation and source of dialect words of festivals from the perspective of linguistics and culture in this chapter, but taking this as a breakthrough to explore the local folk beliefs.The fifth part our focuses is on the examining of dialect words of diet in Taigu, but also explore its source from the perspective of linguistics and culture, we try to prove the regional culture influence on the formation of a dialect from the particular phenomenon of diet habits.The sixth part discusses on the formation and development of folk dialect words in Taigu. Analyzing the formation and development of folk dialect words in depth, and trying to find out the root causes of formation and the situation of development.
