A Study Of The Inheritance And Development Of Rural Folk-custom Culture

Rural folk-custom culture, as an important cultural carrier in carrying forward and cultivating Chinese national spirit, plays an indispensable role in building a harmonious society. It embodies the essence of Chinese traditional culture and represents the inheritance of dynamic culture. However, for various reasons, the inheritance and development of traditional folk-custom culture has never been paid enough public attention in reality and its cultural implication has gradually grown dim in people’s mind. In the background, folk-custom culture changes to different degrees and contents as a result of rapid social change. As an object of being exploited, folk-custom culture has been much more damaged than protected in spite of the economic value it creates. As an object of being protecting, folk-custom culture is still on the stage of calling more public attention to itself. In other words, although we shout more than we do the prospect of protection is cheerful.As an essential part in contemporary society, the study of rural folk-custom culture has been a new issue in the countryside construction. As the Sixth Plenum of the17th CPC Central Committee notes, the striving of culture takes an important part in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and marks the all-round revival of Chinese nation. For a country or a nation, the economic development aside from cultural development is far from perfect. Only when culture is simultaneously developed along with economy, politics and society can our nation be thriving and prosperous. Theoretically speaking, any society is a system which consists of politics, economy and culture. The three forms an organic whole, and not one of them can be dispensed with. But, at the same time, the developments of them are not absolutely simultaneous. This means a country with rapid economic growth doesn’t necessarily lead to an advanced culture. Once Mark said, an underdeveloped country may be in a leading position in the world cultural field. Therefore, we should consciously enhance cultural development besides economic development in order to ensure both material assurance and spiritual enjoyment for people of all nationalities. And the construction of new countryside requires us to do more on the inheritance and development of folk-custom culture. Only the thoughts of public are improved firstly can the new countryside appear before us.In this thesis, folk-custom culture is discussed from its present situation, protection, and its inheritance and development. Moreover, the connection between folk-custom culture and new countryside tourism, the core value of traditional festivals and its cultural comparison with western festivals, and the role of media in transmitting national culture are also analyzed. Besides, according to the description of folk-custom culture of new countryside some of the misunderstanding about its formation and development are analyzed and relative suggestions are given as well.
