A Report On Translation Of The Encyclopedia Of Police Science (Excerpt)

The Encyclopedia of Police Science reflects the development of theory and practice about police science. This report is based on some examples taken from what I translated in the project(namely parts X, Y and Z of the book), and analyzes the translation strategies and effects in the process guided by the theory of communicative translation.This paper consists of four parts: introduction, analysis of the source text, difficulties in translation and solutions, and conclusion. The first part is about translation background, translation significance and structure of this paper. The second part analyzes the content and language features of the source text. The third part is about difficulties in translation and solutions. Based on the theory of communicative translation, this part analyzes translation methods(such as conversion, amplification and so on), and translation effects by examples from the perspective of words and sentences. The fourth part summarizes lessons gained and problems to be solved in the translation.
