This translation report is a summary of the translation strategies and methods that the translator has adopted in the project, the English-to-Chinese translation of The Encyclopedia of Police Science(excerpt).As for The Encyclopedia of Police Science, it is a collection of entries about the neglected discipline – police science. The whole book, edited by many scholars in the area, explains the basic concepts of this discipline in an all-around way. The source text includes three entries: Abuse of Authority by Police, Academies Police, and Accidental Death/Assaults Against Police and Murders of Police Officers.This translation report contains four parts. Chapter One makes a brief introduction to the report. Chapter Two analyzes the content and style of the source text. Chapter Three focuses on the challenges and difficulties that face the translator in the work, and presents adequate examples from the project to explain how the translator deals with some typical translation problems present in this project. Chapter Four sums up the valuable experience and lessons the translator gained from this project. The appendices of this report include the source text and the target text.
