Reflections On Contemporary Value Nihilism-on Strauss Critique Of Modernity

Our world is experiencing a deep crisis occurred in the field of human spirit, it may even spread to other areas in the future. The moral decline, loss of faith, the collapse of significance and other issues around us let people dazed. People are beginning to feel the lost of value and the threat of spiritually empty. The whole world shrouded in despair. Facing with a wide range of values, people simply do not know how to choose, it is also unclear what they can believe or not believe anything. Even more serious is, after losing the basic moral values or standards, what does human behavior should be based on? Does it mean that each individual can do whatever they want according to their desire. If so, then the consequences will be disastrous. Facing with the nihilism of value, what we should do is not escape, but face up to the crisis and find out what we can do.Therefore, this article attempts to uncover and study the value nihilism. And meanwhile discusses Leo Strauss Critique of Modernity. I hope that we can try to find a possible way out through the analysis of the related information of the value nihilism. The main thesis is divided into four parts: the first part focuses on the meaning and hazards of the value nihilism, and discusses Nietzsche research on the root causes of nihilism and his methods to overcome it; the second part starts from the modern critique of Strauss, analyzes the relationship between the development of modernity and the value nihilism; the third part mainly sort out the return to the classical path Strauss raised; the fourth part reflects the feasibility of Strauss way out of value nihilism. And put forward my own ideas to solve the crisis, that is to explore the possibility of universal ethics.
