The Church is one of the most active forces in the Middle Ages in Europe.It monopolize the mind and spirit of people.As the educational institutions, the university is the main position of ideological spread.There is a natural link between university and the church.Under the influence of the Reformation,universities have suffered setbacks on the European continent. If the Henry VII Reformation has an impact on the university in England? Whether the University of substance has changed?What happened university relations with the secular authorities and the Church prior and after to the reformation? It is worth our studying and dissecting.This essay compare the situations of university before the Reformation and after the Reformation. First of all, introduce the relations between University, Central Government and Church. Secondly, combination with historical materials, introduce the situations of Reformation and University at that time,and compare it with medieval period. Finally, by introducing the situations after several decades of the Reformation of the university in England. It can be seen, In the reformation of Henry VIII, universities in England have not experienced too much twist.The reformation does not hinder the process of development of university. The Reformation of Henry VIII in England did not play a decisive role in the development of university.Indeed, there are some changes at the University. But overall, these changes are in the wake of the grow of University.The process is the secularization of the University. So,secularization of universities in England could not be completely attributed to Henry VIII reformation.
