With the call of quality education, music education in China will continue to reform and innovation, college music education has made remarkable achievements, a large number of music talent deep into every field of social life, the art education is full of in all aspects of life. Piano is the teaching tool that every music teacher must master now, thus, it is also the basic course and specialized course for the students of general higher education. This course was named piano minor course, aiming at studying music in non professional piano students opened, the goal of education is to improve the skill of piano, to transport the musical talents to the society and the level, is the music education of ordinary colleges and universities a important practical skills courses, is also a base foundation core courses. The basic piano playing skills and songs impromptu accompaniment is the basic requirements of primary and secondary school music teachers, so in the music education of ordinary colleges and universities, the piano course plays a prominent role in the curriculum.Piano education is international in scope and general artistic disciplines, in the creation of innovative practice course at the same time, the full integration of foreign advanced education system, not only is the inherent requirement of the discipline construction, but also for the teaching reform of our country, to create characteristic high-quality course indispensable important element. The United States as a multi-ethnic country, the music of the kinds and forms are many, with rich musical culture, the relative content of the music teaching content, methods and models in the world's leading level. To explore the Contemporary Piano minor curriculum should be the ideological line and training target specific reform measures, combining the international and national character, reflection through the differences, so as to produce various conflicts, this paper puts forward a constructive advice, open up the new thinking mode and space for China's future piano minor curriculum development, building a diversified and comprehensive, three-dimensional space of characteristic curriculum.
