This practice report is based on the translation task of Silica Crystaline—?-Quartz and Cristobalite commissioned by Trans Foryou(Beijing) Translation Co., Ltd. The report is an overall description, analysis and summary on that practice. The problems encountered in the translating process are taken as examples for analyzing the justness and mistakes under the guidance of translating principles: Faithfulness, Expressiveness and Appropriateness. This report integrates theories of “language features of scientific English” and makes a profound discussion of translating techniques application. This report consists of five parts—Task Description, Process Description, Preparations,Case Analyses and Summary, among which Case Analysis is the core. The first two parts are a generalization of the source, content, requirement and process of this task and the information of translating and revising process. The third part that is Preparations for Translation elaborates the preparations made by I from five aspects. The Case Analysis part describes how I rendered this medical report as perfectly as I can to reproduce and express the ideas, style of the original text fluently according to the three translating principles of Faithfulness,Expressiveness and Appropriateness.Through the practice, I has realized that in terms of translating scientific English, comprehension is fundamental where the solid foundation of grammar is basic and that expressing is crucial. The translation should be worded according to the source language semantically to ensure both fluency of the translation and the stylistic consistency between the original text and translation.
