Mandarin continues to grow in New Zealand in there years.Due to the specific teaching condition in New Zealand Mandarin-language teacher who is in intermediate school needs to integrate the teaching resources,make teaching plan on his/her own. So it is necessary to make a teaching design for New Zealand intermediate students.In the introduction, I expound the research background of this article:I had been New Zealand as a Mandarin Language Assistant in 2013.Then,the purpose of this study and research methods are introduced.The first chapter is the basis of my research:theory of Thematic Based Approach, teaching design and culture in second language teaching field.The second chapter shows my Chinese comprehensive course teaching design for intermediate school. In this chapter, overall teaching design which named “Self-introduction” has been showed.In the next chapter, I sum up the four principles of choosing the theme,the integration of teaching resources, the teaching effect evaluation methods and teaching design of Chinese characters by analysing my thematic instructional design for middle school students.The research achievements and limitations are at the end of the article.
