Accelerating pace of globalization what is making China’s culture is constantly integration with Western culture.Protestant work ethic which has developed mature in Western society,has been showed by many studies that it does not just exist in Protestant countries.Is protestant work ethic also has been had in Chinese culture?Western scholars’ studies show that the work ethic of has a profound impact on modern human resource management,job performance,employee’ behaviors,work attitudes and son on.Does work ethic also plays the same role in China and Western society?Whether the work ethic will mutate itself during blending with the Chinese culture.With respect to the West,our studies on the work ethics is still in its infancy,there is more blank in the field.Over 2000 years,influenced by traditional Confucian Culture,Chinese society has been to inculcate many values such as collectivism,which making China who has strong collectivist culture atmosphere formed a unique relationship that different from Western culture(relationship),We call Chinese "guanxi".The Chinese "guanxi",as a widespread phenomenon,which is already being Chinese-style guanxi culture.So if you want to study the work ethic of employees in Chinese organizations,you must consider the guanxi factor.What is the relationship between individual work ethics and the prevalence of guanxi?The impacts which come from the collision between two cultural factors are what we urgently need to address.Based on existing work ethic theory,through researching and analysis the employees’ work ethic and the guanxi orientation,we are trying to understand the current situation of Chinese’ work ethic and guanxi orientation,and to explore the influencing mechanism between individual work ethic and the guanxi orientation which will provide appropriate advice to China’s management practices.In this empirical research study,we used the SPSS 19.0 as the statistical software.The survey sample is selected from Shanxi large and small businesses,and institutions of 350 employees.Scale questionnaire were chosen from Mirel and Garrett(1971)5 dimensions developed,work ethic scale 19 question items,Swee Hoon Ang and Siew Meng Leong(2000)developed it contains nine questions of Lee Specter interpersonal style guide(guanxi orientation)scale.The results show:the demographic variables of gender,work experience,job level there are significant differences in the work ethic.The existence of a significant impact on staff qualifications interpersonal orientation.Work ethic and guanxi orientation showed a significant positive correlation.Three dimensions of work ethic:hard work will be successful(β=0.149,p<0.05),against the entertainment(β=0.133,p<0.05),against leisure(β=0.191,p<0.05)and guanxi orientation showed a significant positive correlation,the relationship between the work itself(β=-0.009,p>0.05),self-control(β=0.061,p>0.05)and guanxi orientation is not significant.
