The Traditional World In Jia Pingwa's Rural Novels

Jia Pingwa's literary creation started with A Pair of Socks in 1970s.After the February Apricot,Jia Pingwa gradually discovered Shangzhou as the foundation of his creation,and created a series of literature on the background of countryside in southern Shaanxi.In the 21st century,Jia Pingwa's novel creation become mature,along with a series of novels published,like Qin Qiang,Ancient Furnace,Daideng,the Old Man and the Flower,Jia Pingwa has proved his ability of creation.There are two features in Jia Pingwa's rural novels:one is the exquisite daily narration,the other is the traditional world in his rural novels.Studies of the traditional world are less than these of daily narration in academic circle.So it is necessary to do further discussion and research in this thesis.This paper was just proceed from this perspective and based on Qin Qiang and Ancient Furnace.This paper argues that Jia Pingwa's novels presented a traditional rural word including entrenched idea of patriarchal clan,the rural world governed by doing nothing that goes against nature and natural fear with equality of all substances.Jia Pingwa's ability of finding and presenting the traditional world owes to his rural experience.Daily narration and the present of traditional world prove Jia Pingwa's cultural conservative writing attitude.
