Calligraphy and painting is the important part of Chinese cultural industry. With the development of digital, Internet and computer technology, it's possible to use digital technology to manage painting image and spread painting image on the Internet. However, painting image is different from other common image because of painting image's large size and high resolution ratio, the high cultural and commercial value of painting image and the copyright protection of painting image. Those characteristics of painting image bring difficulty to manage painting image on the Internet.The article designs Painting Management System(PMS), the system realizes the management of painting image based on the network. After analyzing the requirements of painting image management, the system can be divided into the management of painting image based on the network, the painting image browsing on mobile platform, the watermark embedding and extraction of painting image. The details is as follows:1) According to the characteristics of painting image, the article analyzes the requirements of the system. The system consists of three subsystems including the painting image management subsystem based on network, the painting image processing subsystem and the mobile application subsystem for painting image browsing. Also, the article analyzes the system actors of the system and the interactive relationship between the subsystems.2) The article designs and develops the painting image management subsystem based on network. According to the three system actors which are administrator, uploader and user, the functional requirements of the system can be concluded. And then the use case diagram and sequence diagram are drawn by Unified Modeling Language. The system functions of painting image management, image browsing, image upload and download are developed by Java and other Web development techniques.3) According to the characteristics of painting image, the article lists the transfer algorithms between three color spaces including RGB, L*a*b* and HSV. Also, the article draws the flow diagram of the Discrete Fourier Transformation(DFT) and Discrete Cosine Transformation(DCT) watermark embedding and extraction. Then, with the analysis of use case diagram and sequence diagram, the subsystem functions of embedding and extracting watermark in three color spaces are developed based on Microsoft Foundation Class(MFC). And the function of making low resolution image is also realized.4) The article analyzes the main requirements of the painting image mobile application and the use cases is concluded. The compatibility problem between the mobile application and the system is solved. The application is developed on android platform and it can login in the system, query the painting image according to single condition or multi-conditions and browse the painting image from the painting.
