With the deepening of the cross-cultural communication and the popularization of network, massive amounts of foreign films and television works through internet are accessible to Chinese audiences. Due to the improvement of education and the increasing number of the educated audiences, better translation of the subtitles of films and television works are required. The rapid development of network and the incredible increase of Internet users have given birth to a large number of network buzzwords. The usage of the network catchwords gradually spreads from the internet world into people's daily life. The emergence of network buzzwords brings new ideas to subtitle translation. Increasing numbers of network buzzwords are employed in subtitle translation, bringing extraordinary feelings and tastes to audiences.This article draws on skopos theory and analyzes cases of Chinese Internet buzzwords employed in subtitle translation, in a purpose to study the strategy of network buzzwords in subtitle translation. This study finds that translators adopting Chinese Internet buzzwords in subtitle translation can achieve effects such as popularity, innovation, humor, and localization, which greatly promotes the appreciative nature of film and television works and attracts a large number of audiences. Meanwhile, this study also points out the advantages and limitations of Chinese network catchwords employed to subtitle translation. In the practice of the translation of subtitles, we should pay attention to the proper usage of Chinese Internet buzzwords and exert its advantages.This text studies the phenomenon of adopting Chinese Internet buzzwords in subtitle translation. After collecting corpus, we analyzes the strategy of internet buzzwords with skopos theory, in the hope of enriching the research of subtitle translation and providing some guidance for future practice.
