The development of the cultural industry influences a country's comprehensive strength, so all countries pay attention to the development of their cultural industries. They invest a lot of money, materials and manpower elaborative films and television programs to spread their own cultural philosophy abroad. To some extent, this promotes the exchanges between countries. Documentary is one of the effective ways to spread culture in different backgrounds, so the subtitle plays a vital role in cultural exchanges. For that, high-qualified subtitle translation becomes a premise of cultural exchanges, and the study of the translation strategies and principles on documentaries.Based on Skopos Theory and its principle rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule, this paper attempts to analyze the translation strategies of the subtitles in documentary of West Lake of Fuzhou and Xiamen Botanical Garden, which are part of Chinese documental series---"Finding the Most beautiful Garden." This study concludes the following six translation strategies:foreignization and domestication, literal translation and free translation, sentence reconstruction, deletion, addition and rewrite. This study shows that Skopos Theory can guide subtitle translation and improve subtitle translation's relevant theoretical systems so as to promote Chinese traditional cultures in the world.
