This paper mainly conduct a comprehensive and systematic discussion in the adjectives in the Bronze Inscriptions of West Zhou Dynasty and include following contents:I.After exhaustive research on those adjectives,this paper does the most comprehensive statistics to the adjectives at present;?.Complete and analysis the mistakes in previous works in order to figure out the reasons;?.Through the above research conclusion,to summarize the characteristics of the adjectives in the grammatical and semantic sense.The paper is divided into four chapters.The chapter one is the introduction part.Mainly narrates about the representative research results for the adjectives,this paper research value and the research train of thought and the choice of materials as well as research methods and so on.The chapter two is the identification and classification of the adjectives.The first section introduce the standard and the limit of adjectives,claims from the meaning of words,grammatical structure and context of the comprehensive factors to measure;The second section of corpus identification is an important part of this paper.On the basis of summing up and sorting out of adjectives research and rearranging the existing materials from the ECNU Chinese character system and add new the corpora,present the more detailed and accurate example of adjectives,especially for the judged adjectives before some of the controversial words given,such as "an","yin"and so on.Then to make judgment of adjectives the single-syllable adjectives and polysyllabic adjective.The chapter three is the syntax analysis of the adjectives.One is the discussion of the polysyllabic adjective on word formation,this period had obvious progress on word creation with the need to generate more word.Two is the summarization of the syntactic functions and features of adjectives.Mainly to do some supplement of previous research and debate.Three is aimed at discussing about some adjectives and problems,such as "bao","xiu","yong".The Chapter four is the adjectives semantic analysis of the adjectives on characters.Mainly from the cognitive semantics and structural semantics to the semantic classification study on the above summary of adjectives.The adjective is generally divided into two categories:decorate people and things,with each category on a summary according to its characteristic;Then again emphatically from this aspect of synonym righteousness field to summarize some refinement of high frequency adjectives with the same semantic classification to supplement the predecessors' research;Finally on the basis of the existing research to this paper summarizes the semantic characteristics of adjectives.
