A Practice Interpreting Report On The Interviews

With the rapid development of online media, talk shows have become the main ways of people’s entertainment. Compared with the TV series and movies, interview programs are more authenticity and mystery. Even, people who used to watch domestic programs now prefer to watch foreign ones. However, today many domestic programs have been translated into ones of other languages, but there are few relatively high-quality programs among them. In order to make them know more about Chinese culture and life, and help them understand the real life and inner worlds of Chinese celebrities which are different from their eyes, the author selects part of the interview A Date with Lu Yu --Her Old Friends as the interpreting practical materials.In this practical interpreting report,based on functional equivalence theory,the author pays great attention to the original meanings and logical relations of language and keeps language fluency and focuses on audience comprehension in the process of content analysis. However, the guests of the program are in Taiwanese accent, and there exists semantic repetition, narratives and dialogues, idioms with the four or more words, subject missing, the word order confusion, etc., which make the interpreters feel quite difficulty and tough. In the process of analysis, the author summarizes and elaborates the specific methods and techniques of interview interpreting,and also provides effective experience for interpreters to interpret similar subjects in the future to some extent.In terms of the structure of this practical report,it can be divided into three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion. The main parts of this content are as follows:The first part is the introduction. The introduction mainly gives a brief account of the content, the research background of the program A Date with Lu Yu --Her Old Friends, the research status of the interview interpreting and the research content of the author.The second part is the main body, including four parts:The first chapter of the main body gives the specific description of the content,which describes the content of the program A Date with Lu Yu -Her Old Friends, the selection procedures, the practical significance of this report, also the description of functional equivalence.The second chapter mainly introduces the preparation process of interpreting,preparation in advance and the phase of carrying out interpreting materials. The preparation in advance includes the background knowledge preparation, and the vocabulary preparation.In the third chapter, detailed case analysis is performed. Based on the theory of functional equivalence, in the form of consecutive interpretation, the author elaborates the specific methods and techniques in interpreting interview, such as figuring out and analyzing turn-taking clues, making sentence simplification, order modification, and free translation in interpreting, etc.The last part is the conclusion. This section is mainly to summarize strategies adopted in cases analysis above, including the difficulties and deficiencies encountered in this practice. Through the integration and analysis of the entire entertainment interview interpreting process, those valuable studies will make the interpreters learn relevant skills and apply these techniques to interpreting practice in the future.
