As C hina goes global,divergent views flare up on its development.To observe China's development in an objective way and comprehensively understand C hina 's image and progress in the view of foreigners,the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation of Changchun University of Science and Technology conducted an interview with Marine Osborne.The author served as the consecutive interpreter in the process.After the interpretation,the author found some problems in the interpretation through analysis and assessment of this practice.These problems could be categorized as inaccurate interpretation of idioms and terminologies,redundancy of interpretation and information loss.To solve these problems and improve interpretation quality in the future,feasible solutions were proposed by the author.In the report,the author introduces the background of the interpretation practice,the interviewee and the interviewer.The author also elaborates on the pre-task preparation,such as watching interview programs,material preparation,contacting with the interviewee,pre-task prediction and other preparations.In the main part of the report,the author explores the problems from sentence structures,contents and styles of the source text to put forth feasible solutions such as long-term accumulation of idioms and terminologies,active prediction based on context,streamlining sentences through omission and reformulation,improving note-taking skills and distributing efforts in a balanced way in interpreting.Through this practice,the author realizes the importance of bilingual background and long-term interpretation practices.It is hoped that this report can provide a guidance for future interpretation practice.
