Attachment is a kind of emotional connection and bond with attachment figure. It is formed in babyhood, and it is developing through the whole life.Because attachment has important affection on mental health and interpersonal trust, especially in the turning period of personal development, finding the proper methods to explore the nature and characteristics of attachment relationship in adolescence has an important meaning. The research of attachment in foreign countries has been extended from infants to adolescents and adults, but there are less researches on adolescents than infants and adults in China because of the lack of proper measure tools. There are some proper scales in foreign countries, which have been used to measure attachment of Chinese adolescents. But in view of cultural difference, using foreign measurement tools directly may be not proper. We need to revise the tools to make them suitable for Chinese adolescents.Participants in this research are middle school students. This research's content is about revising Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment(IPPA)to Chinese version, using the revised version to test 580 middle school students, and getting the result of the test to analyze and adjust the items of the scale, delete unsuitable items, adjust the structure of the scale, examine the reliability and validity of revised version of IPPA and form a suitable scale for Chinese middle school students finally. The results of this research are as follows:(1)There are 13 items deleted in the procedure of item analysis, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. These 13 items are combined with 4items from attachment of mother sub-scale,4 items from attachment of father sub-scale and 5 items from attachment of peer sub-scale.The revised version of IPPA are formed after deleting these 13 items. In the revised version, the structure of attachment of father sub-scale and attachment of peer sub-scale is still three factor model, but the structure of attachment of mother sub-scale changes into two factormodel.(2)The three sub-scales of revised version of IPPA have good Cronbach Alpha coefficients.Except Cronbach Alpha coefficient of alienation in attachment of peer sub-scale is 0.71,Cronbach Alpha coefficients of other sub-sales' every dimension are greater than 0.80,which indicate good internal consistency reliability of revised version of IPPA.(3)The result shows that: personal quality of attachment is significantly negative correlating with the score of DSRSC,the scores of trust dimension and communication dimension of three sub-scales are all significantly positive correlating with the score of PSSS and significantly negative correlating with the score of DSRSC,while the result of alienation dimension turns out just the opposite. All above results show good criterion validity of revised version of IPPA.(4)There is no significant gender difference on total score of mother attachment, father attachment and peer attachment sub-scales,but on peer communication dimension in peer attachment sub-scale,girls scored significantly higher than boys.(5)Parent attachment and peer attachment have different prediction on interpersonal trust. For boys, the most important predictor is mother attachment, while for girls the most important predictor is peer attachment.Conclusion:(1)the revision of parent and peer attachment inventory has good reliability and good validity,it can be used to measure middle school students' parent and peer attachment;(2)for boys, the most important predictor of interpersonal trust is mother attachment, while for girls is peer attachment.
