A Research On The Explaination Variations In Different Editions Of Modern Chinese Dictionary

Modern Chinese Dictionary is of great significance in the modern lexicography,It is the first medium-sized dictionary in China.It undertake the task of standardizing language and Chinese teaching as its objective is“to popularize Mandarin and standardize modern Chinese”.In the process of compiling a dictionary,explaination determines the overall quality.It is an important symbol to measure the quality of excellent dictionary.Therefore,with the focus on the research of Modern Chinese Dictionary,The academic areas pay more and more attention to the study of its explaination,But these papers concentrate on comparing the explaination of a certain edition or different editions,or comparing with "Xin Hua Dictionary" and "Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary",The lack of systematic and comprehensive analysis of the variations in the different editions of Modern Chinese Dictionary.Based on this,this thesis explores the explaination variations in different editions of Modern Chinese Dictionary.The thesis consists of six parts:The first part explains the significance of the chosen subject,the amendments of the dictionary as well as the studying status and the research methods.The second part analyzes types of the variation in different editions: Firstly,it is reflected variation of the senses,which mainly includes the increase of sense,the decrease of sense and the adjustment of sense.Secondly,it is reflected variation of the explainations,which mainly includes the increase of explainations,the decrease of explainations and the renewed of explainations.Thirdly,it is reflected variation of the exemplifications,which mainly includes the increase of exemplifications,the decrease of exemplifications and the renewed of exemplifications.The third part analyzes the characteristics appears in the process of the variation,that is the accuracy,the epochalcharacter,and the popularity character.That is,on the basis of adhering to the accuracy character,to explain in a simple and underable way,Meanwhile,reflecting the trajectory of the development of the times.The fourth part discusses the reasons of the these variations: the social changes causes come from the developments of the world,the internal causes come from the developments of the people’s ideology,while the basic reason of these variation is the developments in explaination theories.The fifth part,on the basis of affirming the achievements,puts forward some suggestions about updated explainations,systematic explainations,the sense of consolidating and separating.The sixth part,summarizes the whole thesis and puts forwards the viewpoints.
