With the development of the Internet,the use of online games has become one of the important online behaviors of middle school students.Online games have complex effect on development of middle school students.The present research investigates the present situation of middle school students' online games,the influence of playing online games on their peer relationship.The study was based on a random sample of 8 classes and 489 people from a high school and junior middle school in Guilin and Hezhou.The study 1 interviews of 17 students study which explores the composing of the network game to play with the experience of playing online games with an acquaintance/strangers and impact on offline peer relations.In the survey2,489 students were involved,the research tools include: Online game questionnaire,peer nomination form.Following are the results:(1)Playing online games is mainly based on six motivations:friends;Life is boring,passing the time,relaxing;The design of the game;Fun;Virtuality;Team work.(2)The game of the network is mainly used by acquaintances(friends and classmates).(3)14 people said they would play with their classmates,playing online games help enhance students friendship with their classmates,a deeper understanding of students,developing common hobbies and topics,improving familiarity.10 people think that playing online games have positive effects on dating and know more people,and expand the circle of friends,and get a bright and cheerful disposition,friends have a common topic which can talk more topics and learn some tips.(4)During week days,many middle school students spend about 1.5hours playing net games per day;while in weekends,4 hours are spent to play games.83% of the students surveyed have their own mobile sets.(5)The number of friends and the playing games in different areas as well as sharing experience are significant positive correlations.Those friends who are population and friends in different areas,sharing experience,the quantity of friends and beloved are significant positive correlations.(6)They can significantly predict the number of friends on playing games in the same area and in different areas and the playing games in week days.They can significantly predict peer acceptance on playing games in different areas and playing games in week days.Playing games in different areas can significantly predict popularity of middle school students.
