In the past decade,The Internet technology and Electronic communication have rapidly developed, which not only bring convenience to people, but also derive some negative issues. The violent content of network get extra attention in many negative influence factors.Children born after 2000 grow up with Internet as Digital Natives,and access the internet since the childhood under the greater influence of the Internet.Now they have enter middle school and use the Internet more frequently than ever before, which bring more opportunities exposed to the violent content of network. Online games have became one of middle school students’favorite online entertainment.Many online games contain a lot of violent content which are more welcomed by game players.The research between traditional violent media exposure (TV, film) and aggressive behavior is rich,but there are not many empirical studies that reveal the negative influence of violent online games to middle school students. In addition, Cyberbullying---a new type of aggressive behavior appear with the application of Internet attract more and more concern from social sectors. So it is necessary to study the impact of violence online games exposure on traditional bullying and cyberbullying.In order to investigate the impact of violent online games exposure on traditional bullying and cyberbullying as well as the mediation of cognitive empathy and affective empathy. A sample of 930 middle school students completed Questionnaire of Violent Online Games Exposure, Basic Empathy Scale, Cyberbullying Inventory, Traditional Bullying Questionnaire.The study results are as follows:1. The incidence of traditional bullying in middle school students who expose violent online games is 59.2%, while the cyberbullying is 60.8%.Both of them are common.2. Both traditional bullying and cyberbullying show significant gender differences that boys get higher scores than girls. There is no significant grade differences in traditional bullying,but significant grade differences in cyberbullying which high school have significantly more cyberbullying than middle school students.3. The exposure rate of violent online games in middle school students is 76.88%,there is significant gender and grade differences of violent online games exposure that boys play more violent online games than girls,high grade play more violent online games than low grade.4. There is significant gender differences of both cognitive empathy and affective empathy that girls own higher empathy than boys,while there is no significant grade of empathy.5. Both traditional bullying and cyberbullying are found significantly positively correlated with violent online games exposure;Both cognitive empathy and affective empathy are found significantly negatively correlated with violent online games exposure;Cognitive empathy is significantly negatively correlated with traditional bullying;Both cognitive empathy and affective empathy are found significantly negatively correlated with cyberbullying.6. Violent online games exposure has a positive effect on both traditional bullying and cyberbullying. The higher level violent online games they expose, the possibility they perpetrate both traditional bullying and cyberbullying behaviors is greater.7. Cognitive empathy of middle school students has partial mediating effect on the positive relation of violent online games exposure and traditional bullying.8.Violent online games exposure affected cyberbullying through two indirect paths: the mediating role of cognitive empathy, the mediating role of affective empathy.
