Analysis Of Precedent Names From Ancient Mythology In The Vocabulary Of The Russian Language

Being one of the theoretical systems of linguocultural studies,precedent phenomenon was presented by the Russian linguist Karaulov Yu.N.and was developed with the help of such scholars as Gudkov D.B.,Krasnov V.V.,Bagaeva D.V.,Zakharenko I.V.,etc.At present,this theory expands the field of study of lexicology,phraseology,culture and literature.According to this theory,precedent phenomenon(PP)is divided into the following four symptoms:precedent text(PT),precedent situation,precedent statement and precedent name(PN).Based on the theory of the precedent name in this paper,we will choose the highest-frequency precedent names from ancient mythology as subjects of study.Based on the results of the study,it is proved that the precedent name that onto logically derives from precedent text or precedent situation is deeply rooted in the nation's thought and perception over time.By means of such existing names,we express indirect meanings in personal speech telling laconically and adding some stylistic co tors to speech.In the course of studying Russian language and culture,we have noticed that there is a massive amount of traces of ancient culture,among which the most prominent seems many kinds of names.From the point of view of semantics,in these names some regularities appear in the aspect of classification,production,portable meaning,etc.;and from the point of view of pragmatics,the use of these names in modern Russian can be clarified on the basis of the theory of precedent name.This paper consists of an introduction,three chapters,a conclusion,references and appendix.In the main part,we will study the precedent names from ancient mythology in the next three chapters.The first chapter summarizes the results of the research and provides an overview of theories correlated with the theme of our paper.It is on the theoretical basis of the first chapter that we will be able to study precedent names from ancient mythology deeper.This chapter is divided into two sections:1)The current research of the PN in the notion of the PP,2)Theory of PN.The first section is devoted to the study and improvement of the theory of precedent in Russia and China.In the second section,the theory of precedent name is specifically research:the concept of PN,the structure of PN,the functional aspect of PN,and the relationship between PN,PT and precedent situation.The second chapter emphasizes the analysis of PN in terms of semantics,based on the collection of high-frequency PN from ancient mythology.Due to the massive amount of PN from ancient mythology,it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the semantics in the semantics of PN.In this regard,this chapter examines this question in the following four aspects:1)PN classification,2)PN,having derived words,3)PN in a figurative sense,4)PN as part of phraseological units.In the first section according to various mythical images PN is subdivided into the names of ancient gods,geological names,animal names and the name of the objects.In the second section,we select such PN that have derived words,reveal laws between PN and other ordinary words.In the third section lists the PN,which are used in the modern Russian language in indirect meanings.In the fourth section,it is observed that some of the PN are not used in free phrases,but in phraseology units,which can also be classified in accordance with the nomination of the PN.The third chapter describes the PN from ancient mythology and the ways of their representation in the modern Russian language in pragmatic aspect.In connection with the fact that in the context of the PN conveys special meanings and stylistic nuances,in this chapter we give various examples for the study.This chapter consists of two sections:1)Using of the PN from ancient mythology,2)Representation of PN from ancient mythology in the modern Russian language.In the first section,it is revealed that the PN from ancient mythology are mainly used in three areas:the media,literary output and political articles.In the second section,we summarize the methods of representation of the PN in:a)natural,b)semiotic.With the first method,the PN is used in its original form,reaches the reader or listener as a direct object of perception,understanding,experience,reflection.In the second method,the PN is not directly involved in the communication process.PN appeals by means of a hint,a reference,and a sign inm the whole unit.In conclusion summarizes all the conclusions of this paper.According to the results of our analysis,ancient mythology exerted a great influence on Russian culture.It is proved by the fact that various names from ancient mythology entered the vocabulary of the modern Russian language,showing special semantic regularities and pragmatic assessments.In ancient mythology,there are hundreds of names,but in accordance with the invariant of the perception of the precedent name only more than one hundred of them entered the vocabulary of the modern Russian language and obtain precedent.In connection with the fact that these PN have a common mythological background,we make a generalized and special analysis:classification,word formation,transferred meanings,areas of use,ways of representation,etc.The results of the research of our paper are useful for Russian specialists,helping to learn more about the cultural background and semantic values of PN from ancient mythology,revealing the theoretical regularities of these PN that appear in contexts,increasing their ability to understand,remember,and use PN.In addition,the analysis of PN from ancient mythology in the aspects of semantics and pragmatics expanded the field of study of the precedent phenomenon and proved opinions in the theory of linguoculturology and cognitive psychology of the Russian language.Finally,based on generalization of all the results of our paper,we put forth a shortcoming in the work that we need to improve and have surveyed the prospect of further study.
