Analysis Of Russian Proper Name Idioms From The Precedent Theory

Russian idiomatics has long been studied by the Russian and Chinese researchers, and rich achievements have been made. However, Russian proper name idiom, an important kind of Russian idiom, is neglected for long with rare studies in China and Russia to date.The study of Russian language and literature is the forefront of the Russian language studies in Russia and China. The Russian precedent theory plays an important role in the theoretical system of the study of Russian language and literature. The Russian precedent theory plays an important role in the theoretical system of the study of Russian language and literature which is the forefront of the studies on Russian in Russia and China. The research findings of it are of high reference value for the theoretical study of Russian idiomatics, Russian onomasiology, and Russian language and literature, and of high practical value for the teaching of Russian idiom and Russian language and culture in China.In the present study178typical Russian proper name idioms are randomly drawn from Russian Standard Language Idioms Dictionary (1995, editor in chief A. И. Φедоров) and Russian Idioms Dictionary (1998, editor in chief B. M. Мокиенко). On the basis of the theory of Russian idiomatics, a detailed analysis of the lexical-grammatical characteristics of Russian proper name idioms are firstly made by the help of the descriptive method, observational method and language-culture analysis method; subsequently, a taxonomic study on Russian proper name idioms from the perspective of the precedant theory is carried out.This thesis is composed of three chapters which are Introduction, Main Part, Conclusion; References and Appendix.The Introduction reviews principle research findings in Russian proper name idioms of the Russian linguists at home and abroad, and explains the research significance, research perspective, research methodology and research purposes of this thesis.Chapter One elaborates basic concepts of Russian idioms, proper name and precedent phenomena, and then, from the perspective of the precedent theory, redefines the extension and intension of Russian proper name idioms in order to make the theoretical foundation for the research below.Chapter Two analyses in detail the lexical-grammatical characteristics of Russian proper name idioms, based on the basic theory of Russian idiomatics.Chapter Three mainly elaborates culture and language value of Russian proper name idioms, and makes a new classification of them from the perspective of the precedent theory. According to the origin of the precedent phenomena implied in these idioms, we classify them into six kinds:1) proper name idioms based on the biblical precedent phenomena;2) proper name idioms based on the Russian history precedent phenomena;3) proper name idioms based on the Russian literature precedent phenomena;4) proper name idioms based on the Russian folklore precedent phenomena;5) proper name idioms based on ancient Greece and ancient Rome precedent phenomena; and6) proper name idioms based on foreign precedent phenomena.The last chapter draws conclusions from the findings of this present research and makes an outlook for the study of Russian proper name idioms.
