Culture Geographical Characteristics Assessment Of Traditional Villages In Shanxi Province

The traditional villages possessed unique regional characteristics,integrated the essence of ancient Chinese architecture,abundant material and intangible cultural heritage,and more importantly,they are important carrier of Chinese traditional culture and the spiritual home of the Chinese nation.In the north of China,the most concentrated and most valuable distribution region of the traditional villages was Shanxi province.And the legacy of the traditional villages could reflect the business culture,military culture,farming civilization and other historical and cultural characteristics.However,with the speeding up of the urbanization process,the historical inheritance and culture diversity of the traditional villages was gradually disintegrated and even been constructively destroyed.From the provincial level,this paper studied the traditional villages in Shanxi province systematically by using the the integration methods including spatial hierarchy analysis,culture geographical characteristics recognition and assessment.In particular,this article analyzed the temporal-spatial distribution characteristics and conservation status of the traditional villages,identified and evaluated the culture geographical characteristics,and eventually proposed the targeted protection strategies.The research showed that:(1)The spatial analysis method was employed in the case study to analyze the quantitative structure,spatial structure and temporal characteristics of the traditional villages to discover their temporal-spatial distribution pattern.The results revealed that the quantitative structure of traditional villages in Shanxi Province was unbalanced and the spatial distribution of traditional villages was obvious aggregated distribution,which was mainly formed 5 large concentrated areas:Zezhou-Gaoping-Pingshun,Taigu-Qixian-Pingyao,Yingxian-Hunyuan,Hongtong-Yicheng and Pingding,while 3 of them were in decent conservation status.The results provided the solid foundation for putting forward the cluster protection measures of traditional villages.For the temporal characteristics,49%of the traditional village was built before the yuan dynasty,which with the rich historic.(2)Based on the perspective of putting culture at the heart of sustainable development policies,the cultural,natural,historical and other factors which influnced the formation and development of the traditional villages in Shanxi province were analyzed at different levels and focus.By using the recognition process of the traditional villages culture geographical characteristics,the method of spacial hierarchical overlapping from top to bottom and information extraction from bottom to top was adopted.According to the typical cultural characteristics,the traditional villages were divided into seven cultural types which mainly included the military,red revolution,commerce,traditional arts,architecture,farming,farming-pastoral.And then,this paper combined with the culture region map to form the culture geographical characteristic region map of the traditional villages.Finally,basic descriptions on culture geographical characteristic area of traditional villages in Shanxi Province was formed,so as to lay the foundation for the culture geographical characteristics assessment of traditional villages.(3)Under the guidance of the culture geographical characteristics assessment,the cultural diversity,dominant culture type,degree of fragmentation and notability of the traditional villages in Shanxi province were analyzed.It is certain that the cultural types of traditional villages are rich,the quality is fantastic and the popularity is high,especially the traditional farming culture villages were the dominant.Among them,with the influence of urbanization development,the culture geographical characteristic region of the traditional villages in Hedong farming areas had been highly damaged in the spatial pattern.In addition,based on the cultural complexity,the degree of interference,intensity,historical,protection and management level of traditional villages,this paper makes a comprehensive evaluation towards the cultural and geographical features of traditional villages,which is in favor of focusing on the protection of the important regions in the traditional villages planning and management.(4)On the basis of the identification and evaluation of cultural and geographical characteristics,the protection principles of the integrity,authenticity,classification,and combining the government-led and and the subject of villagers have been abided.And then,the targeted protection strategies with hierarchical and classification have been proposed according to local conditions.It makes a combination of the traditional villages with the spatially adjacent,culturally relevant and landscape dependent,takes the cluster protection strategies,gives full play to the dominant position of the villagers in the protection and cultivates the power of civil construction.Based on the above,this thesis mastered the spatial distribution pattern of traditional villages in Shanxi province comprehensively.Meanwhile,through the research method of culture geographical characteristics assessment,the culture types of the tradition villages have been clear systematically.The research results had certain reference significance for the protection,planning and management of traditional villages.
