Report On Translation Practice Of CFN

This paper is a report on translation of 113 frames from CFN(Chinese FrameNet).CFN is a semantic database based on the Chinese corpus and used through computer recognition.According to the structure of these frames,the task can be divided into three parts:translation of terms,translation of definitions and translation of example sentences.The corpus of the frames covers many different fields,like medical science,law,mathematics,weather,and so on.From the perspective of linguistics features of the words,phrases,sentences and texts,most of the original texts are non-literary texts.The main purpose of the final translation is to build database through computer recognition,thus the translation should meet the criteria of objectiveness,accuracy and technicality.Based on the translation practice of 113 frames about 10,000 words,the paper analyzes the linguistic features of the texts,and summarizes the strategies and methods in the translation of terms,definitions and examples.This paper consists of four parts.The first part is task description,and it can be divided into the introduction of the background of this task and the theoretical basis.The second part is process description,including the three processes:preparation before translation,translation process and quality control.The third part is case analysis,and this part includes the analysis of linguistic features of CFN and the analysis of the translation practice,and in this part,the linguistics features are analyzed from the perspective of words,definition and examples,and the translation practice is analyzed in such aspects as the translation of terms,definitions and examples.The last part of this paper is the summary of this translation practice.
