Ann Lee Film Studies In The Perspective Of Post-modern

Since 1960 s,under the background of cultural industry a lot of scholars pay attention on the post modernism philosophy,which is closely connected with deconstruction.Postmodern originated in the field of literature and art,and then widely extended to various fields,which result in cultural thoughts inevitably.More and more scholars applied the postmodern theory in the film studies and appreciate films from the perspective of post-modern.Ang Lee,as a special identity of cross-cultural director,his films also across the boundaries between Chinese and western culture,and focus on the marginalized groups.Ang lee's film is not only gain praise from audience,three times won Academy Awards,but also has broad influence in the academic fields.Ang Lee became the first Chinese director who wins the Academy Awards for best director in the history of film.This essay attempt to analysis Ang Lee's films from the perspective of postmodern,through three aspects discusses Ang Lee's twelve films.The introduction generalizes the concept of post-modernism and post-modern film,and discusses the existing research of Ang Lee's films;the first chapter analysis the deconstruction of the conflict and fusion between Chinese and western culture,which presents the cultural diversity in Ang Lee's films;the second chapter focus on the deconstruction and reconstruction of gender order,analysis the disintegration of traditional gender order which not only remove center status of patriarchy but also invisibly raised the status of women,then discuss the special gender order of homosexuality which blur the conventional gender boundaries in Ang Lee's films;the third chapter expounds the dispelling of rational centralism and the irrational narrative in Ang Lee's films that shows the mobility of post-modern;the conclusion sum up the inclusiveness,expansiveness,diversity and non-speakable of post-modern in Ang Lee's films.Ang Lee's film has broken the boundary between the business and arts,the edge and the center,represents the fusion between Chinese and western culture,disintegrate the binary structure of modernity philosophy,which has important significance from the perspective of post-modern.Ann Lee's film studies in the perspective of post-modern help the development of the globalization of Chinese films and the output of oriental culture.This study has an important theoretical significance and implications for society.
