Omission phenomenon is one of the most basic and frequent errors in the Chinese acquisition.Uptill now,the study results in this area are controversial.Based on the corpus,this paper analyzed all kinds of omissions in the process of Chinese acquisition of foreign students at intermediate level,by both the qualitative and quantitative research methods,so as to futher classify different kinds of omission and summarize the laws.First,from the angle of linguistic form,elements and function,this study classified the errors during the process of Chinese acquisition of foreign students at intermediate level.A coding system was established based on the classification.Then all kinds of omission errors were screened out,from the angle of linguistic elements and function,and the number of each kind of omission errors were calculated.On the basis of data analysis,the paper systematically made the qualitative analysis of omission phenomenon.It is found that the omission number of grammatical acquisition for the foreign students at the intermediate level is the most,and the second one is the omission in pragmatics acquisition.In the grammatical omission aspects mainly focus on the use of words,especially auxiliary words and adverbs,morpheme and grammatical items such as subject,predicate,complement,adverbial and other syntactic components omissions,and punctuation also has some omissions,mainly about comma and period,moreover the omission errors in the pragmatic aspects is mainly missing word elements of language body and cohesive of discourse and the omission errors in the cohesive of discourse is slightly more.While the omission in Chinese characters appears the least,most of which were reflected in the relatively complex written Chinese characters.Thus it is found that the omission phenomenon often occurs in the following nine casesi.At the aspect of grammar(1)Some of the more virtual components;(2)The use of special one among the similar words;(3)The context of the same property or the components of the same meaning,the component is easy to be omitted,or the components that need to repeat are easy to be missed;(4)The additional components;(5)Compound components in Chinese,but in English is a simple component,which is often affected by the mother tongue and will be missed;(6)When the expression needs,but students have not learned or been learning not well;(7)When Chinese expression habits are different with mother tongue expression habits,or only Chinese has,or Chinese has more complex characters it is easily influenced by the mother tongue and to be missed;ii.At the aspect of Chinese character:(8)Chinese character components,specially complex Chinese characters are easily missed;iii.At the aspect of pragmatics:(9)When the context is misunderstood,omission occurs.Possible reasons for the omission were also analyzed during the Chinese acquisition of foreign students at intermediate level,and the corresponding teaching and learning suggestions were put forward.
