Zhou Nan was an literati and officialdom who lived in the periods of emperor Xiao,Guang and Ning in the Southern Song Dynasty.He was also the descendant of Yongjia School that was famous in the time.In the first year of Shaoxi(1190)that was reign title of emperor Guang,he made a stir in the imperial court because of the discuss of "Taoism","clique" and "huangji".Faced with the terrible situation of Southern Song Dynasty,he formed a set of practical thoughts of its own to recover the quondam territory in the northern.This purpose was also the common dream of the Taoism scholars.However,the resort to arms during the periods of Kaixi that was reign title of emperor Ning had failed rapidly,made him abandon his thoughts grievously.His practical thoughts had never had chance to carry out.Nevertheless,Zhou Nan wasn't a great thinker in the Song Dynasty that full of many classic personage.His experience can provide a perspective to let us observe the general literati and officialdom whose ups and downs of life in the political struggle sufficiently.At the same time,as a descendant of Yongjia School,Zhou Nan spent his lives making achievement and wasn't interested in theoretical study.The characteristic of his thoughts also indicated the decline of Yongjia School.
