Collective pride is a positive collective moral emotion that occurs when group members celebrate their group's significant achievements.It makes people evaluate their group and act to other group members positively.Previous studies focused on adult's collective pride,yet collective self-conscious emotions develop rapidly in childhood.Learning about children's developmental features of collective pride and its influence on behavioral tendencies is not only good for enriching the researches on collective pride,but also helpful for fostering children's collective spirit and prosocial behavior.First,this study investigated daily collective pride events and emotion experience of Grade Four and Grade Five students from two elementary school in Shanghai.They were asked to report on questionnaires and during face-to-face interviews.In basis of children's description,we developed the Collective Pride Experience Questionnaire of Children in Upper-grades Elementary.Then,we carried out two experiments to investigate the influence of Grade Three children's collective pride on their in-group prosocial tendency,and the influence of engagement on collective pride and in-group prosocial tendency.We also tested gender differences in these two experiments.Below are the results:(1)Daily events that evoke children's collective pride mostly happen in school or in off-school study groups and contains various contexts.Children's engagement and concern of these events are different.(2)The Collective Pride Experience Questionnaire of Children in Upper-grades Elementary contains one dimension and has good validity and reliability.It's an efficient tool for testing collective pride experience of children in upper-grades elementary.(3)Children with collective pride have stronger in-group prosocial tendency than those without collective pride when collective identity is controlled.With or without collective pride,girls,in-group prosocial tendency is stronger than boys'.(4)Higher engagement predicts higher valence of collective pride and stronger tendency of in-group prosocial behavior.Girls' in-group prosocial tendency are more likely affected by engagement than boys'.
