A Study Of Lexical Reduplication In Ji Chun Tai

Lexical reduplication is widespread in Mandarin and various Chinese dialects,and the reduplicated forms are abundant.This thesis researches the lexical reduplication in Qing Dynasty novel Ji Chun Tai,and gives a detailed description of adjectives,verbs,nouns,numerals,quantifiers,quantifier phrases,adverbs and onomatopoetic words reduplication.It not only describes the structural characteristics of the reduplication of words in Ji Chun Tai,but also sums up their syntactic characteristics and semantic characteristics.This thesis consists of eight chapters,which can be divided into three parts.The object,significance,status and methods of the research is introduced in the first part(Chapter 1).Also discussed are concept and categories of reduplication as well as several related notions.On the basis of this section,the second part(from Chapter 2 to Chapter 7)investigates the structural,syntactic and semantic characteristics of the adjectives,verbs,nouns,numerals,quantifiers,quantifier phrases,adverbs and onomatopoetic words in Ji Chun Tai.The third part(Chapter 8)summarizes the characteristics of lexical reduplication in Ji Chun Tai and points out the inadequacies of the thesis.The study on lexical reduplication in Ji Chun Tai combines the research achievements of the scholars have made with the use cases in this novel in order to provide some reference materials for the research on Chinese lexical reduplication.
